This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and manage the personal information of subscribers to our newsletter and email communications. It is intended to comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
BCD Theatre is an incorporated independent theatre company dedicated to amplifying diverse and marginalised voices through the arts. Our work centres on authentic storytelling from multicultural Australian communities, with a particular focus on South Asian narratives and advocacy for First Nations peoples. We operate primarily across Greater Sydney, with performances and events extending to Melbourne and other Australian cities.
When you subscribe to our newsletter or otherwise provide us with your details, we may collect: full name, email address, mobile number (where voluntarily provided), suburb or postcode (where voluntarily provided), and organisation or affiliation (where voluntarily provided). We only collect information that is reasonably necessary to send you our newsletter, communicate based on registered interest in specific topics or shows, and manage our subscriber community.
We collect your personal information when you subscribe via our website or an embedded sign-up form, provide your details at a BCD Theatre event or workshop, contact us directly and request to be added to our mailing list, or purchase tickets via our ticketing providers. We do not collect personal information without your knowledge or consent.
We use your personal information to send our newsletter and updates on upcoming productions, events, workshops, and fundraising campaigns; communicate information relevant to BCD Theatre productions and community initiatives; invite you to season launches, community gatherings, and special events; seek your support through donations, campaigns, or advocacy actions; and improve the relevance of our communications. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only with service providers who assist us in delivering our newsletter (under confidentiality), if required by law, or with your explicit consent. BCD Theatre acknowledges that we operate on the unceded lands of the Cammeraygal people of the Eora Nation. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Sovereignty was never ceded.
